Me as a Governor

In 1967 I was elected as the governor of California. During my campaign I emphasized two main themes. "To send the welfare bums back to work," and to clean up the mess at Berkley." I beat the two term Governor Edmund G. "Pat" Brown in the campaign.
I was asked during my campaign what kind of Governor I would be. I replied with, "I don't know, I've never played a governor before," Hahahahaha, well i thought it was funny. I had promised to cut taxes, reduce government waste, and curb student unrest in California's campuses.
I had also served in the army reserve for three years. I was called to active duty after Pearl Harbor. During my service I had risen to rank of captain. Even thought I never did partake in any real combat, I stayed stateside and narrated training videos.

"The Geat Communicator"

While president I was nicknamed "The Great Communicator" for my speeches. I once said, "I won the nickname 'The Great Communicator'. But I never thought it was my style that made a difference- it was the content. I wasn't a great communicator, but I communicated great things". I didn't believe that I was a fantastic speaker, but everyone else seemed to (as you can see from these approval ratings). Maybe it was my experience with speaking and portraying emotion in a powerful way (being in movies), whatever the case, people seemed to trust me and my speeches.

I connected with my audience. Which consisted of many different age groups in America. My speeches were designed to strike people's hearts, and make people feel good and proud of being American. I emphasized family values during my campaign, and added humor to my speeches. I was never afraid to joke at my self or add a one-liner or two.

The Cold War

When I was in office, the Cold War was in full swing. I went after the Soviet Union because I didn't want a Capitalist country. The U.S. helped Afghanistan and sent them guns and weapons to defeat the Soviet Union. I revived the B-1 bomber program. Britain's Prime Minister at the time, Margaret Thatcher, and I denounced the Soviet Union in ideological terms. We believed to persuade the Soviet Union to allow democracy and free speech would end the Cold War. The Soviet Union eventually signed an arms agreement, which pretty much ended the Cold War.

My Attempted Assassination

On March 30, 1981, 69 days into my presidency, John Hickley Jr. attempted to shoot me. I was leaving a speaking engagement at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. Around 2:30 pm (EST) I walked out of the hotel and was waiting for my car when he came with a revolver and shot six times in three seconds. I had a punctured lungs and three others were wounded. Hickley was not found guilty because he suffered from erotomania. My plans for the next month were canceled as I healed.

Tax Reform of 1986

During my presidency, the tax reform act was put into place. The tax reform act was when the sixteenth amendment was generally accepted because it was a progressive tax. As earnings increased the tax did too. The tax reform act extended the range of progressive tax rates from fourteen, to seventy percent.

Introduction

My name is Ronald Reagan. I was born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6, 1911. My Wife's name is Nancy Davis. We have five kids, their names are Maureen Reagan, Christine Reagan, Michael Reagan, Patti Davis (adopted), Ron Reagan. I have a brother who's name is Neil "Moon" Reagan. My parents names were John Edward "Jack" Reagan, and my mother was Nelle Willson Regan. I went to Dixon High School and then graduated from Eureka in 1932. As a teenager I was a lifeguard, and after college I became a radio personality. I started to get into acting and was in many films, but had to go into the U.S. Army. After I came back I started to host "General Electric Theater". I was the 33rd Governor of California, I ran in 1963, and began on January 3rd and ended on January 7, 1975. I later became the 40th president of the United Sates on January 20, 1981 and ended my presidency on January 20, 1989. I served in that position for two terms.
